OPEN GOVERNMENT COMMISSION

The Open Government Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, February 2 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will discuss potential changes to the city’s Sunshine Ordinance.

ZONING ADMINISTRATOR

The Zoning Administrator will conduct a hearing at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 3 in Conference Room 360 on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The administrator will consider renewal of an interim use permit allowing CSI Mini Storage to operate a storage facility at 51 West Hornet Avenue. The administrator will also consider a use permit and determination of public necessity and convenience allowing Walgreens at 1600 Park Street to sell beer, wine and spirits for off-site consumption.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education is holding a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 3 at Island High School, 500 Pacific Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider selection of a candidate to fill Mayor Trish Spencer’s unexpired board term.

CITY COUNCIL

The City Council is holding its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 3 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The council will consider approving an agreement with a company that would demolish the Todd Shipyard crane. The council will also consider accepting quarterly sales tax and treasury reports for the quarter ending on September 30, 2014 and a report on a redevelopment bond sale.

HISTORICAL ADVISORY BOARD

The Historical Advisory Board meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 5 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will conduct a public workshop on an initial development concept for Site A, a 68-acre waterfront parcel at Alameda Point where homes, shops, parks and transit are planned. The board will also receive an introduction to the design review and certificate of approval processes. The board will also conduct elections for officers and consider a 2015 meeting schedule.

HIGH SCHOOL FACILITIES COMMUNITY MEETING

The second of three community meetings to discuss the future of high schools in Alameda is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, February 5 at Encinal High School, 210 Central Avenue.

On the agenda: Participants will continue a discussion about the future of high schools in Alameda that began on January 29 and will consider a preliminary direction for the school district to take.
