The Planning Board meeting scheduled for Monday, October 13 has been canceled.


The Youth Advisory Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 14 has been canceled.


The Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 14 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider approval of a proposed design for the Encinal High School pools; an initial study of potential environmental impacts and declaration that no significant, unaddressed impacts exist for a lighting project proposed for the Will C. Wood Middle School baseball fields; and approval of Superintendent Sean McPhetridge’s recommendations to appoint members for the Measure A Oversight Committee. The board will also conduct a public hearing and discuss a resolution certifying the sufficiency of the district’s textbooks. The board will also receive reports on district staff’s recommendation that the board approve The Academy of Alameda’s petition to start a grade school charter; a proposed timeline for a community process to discuss Alameda’s high schools; the 2014-15 budget; and the Alameda Education Foundations’ 2013-14 achievements and 2014-15 goals.
