UPDATED: What's developing in Alameda?

Michele Ellson

What new developments are being built in Alameda, and what others are being considered by city leaders? We've updated our development map, originally issued in October, with new information and will continue to update it as developments progress as developments are proposed, completed or approved - and as deals close on some properties slated for development that are now up for sale.

If you've got suggestions for ways we can improve the map, let us know by leaving a comment or e-mailing me at michele@thealamedan.org.

When one considers the low lying, shore line locations for most of these sites, the existing lack of parking in these neighborhoods, the loss of businesses associated with some of the proposed developments, the strain on already aged infrastructure including sewage and water, and the loss of open space, this map seems more a roadmap to to degradation and disaster than to any improvement.

Agree with Liz T. Alameda is rapidly losing it's charm.
I sure will be glad when they reopen the sidewalk on Park Street after they finish with that big ugly prison compound.
Sorry, I meant Walgreens.
